The program for this new training center for a well known local trucking company included classrooms, a small auditorium, offices and a large track for practical driving lessons. Situated on a prominent intersection of the Chicago grid the corner is addressed through the progressive intonation of the concrete planes that define it. These minimally penetrated large exterior concrete walls visually and acoustically shelter the surrounding neighborhood. The interior space is articulated to allow for vehicular traffic circulation and to incorporate the different outdoor functions required.
