Harris Bank: Streeterville

  • Location Chicago, Illinois
  • Design 2003
  • Construction 2004
  • Client Harris Trust and Savings Bank

Urban branch bank facility on a ground floor corner tenant space, within a high-rise, mixed-use development. The irregular shaped space was resolved by introducing a partition that divided the plan into two parts. The wood clad partition separates the southeast exposed glass facade from the more intimate, business adequate interior. In addition to creating the required programmatic separation for an ATM vestibule and resolving after hours security concerns this partition also divides the space into two differently loaded mechanical zones allowing for a more efficient energy use. Thin slab epoxy based terrazzo floor in three different tones of grey, wood paneling and the Harris Bank corporate colors dominate the material palette and chromatic character of the interior.
